A few great videos with the guy who worked on creating the logo are at http://www.acedro.com/blog/2008/12/14/obama-logo-designs-behind-the-scene.html
They had some pretty interesting alternative designs as well.
C'mon...the quotes and analysis from academia are insane! Thank God for the more rational response from the logo's designers.
To me, the logo is clearly a rising sun over an open field (red stripes); which is symbolic enough before adding superhero assumptions or references to a mandala?
Very interesting article, but that's by two cents!
